The Graduate Ambassador Programme for 2018/2019 entry is now closed
Each year, Waterford Institute of Technology recruits recent graduate to work as part of the Graduate Ambassador Outreach Programme.
This is a diverse programme where recent WIT graduates with a passion for the Institute use their knowledge and experience to motivate and encourage other young people to consider higher education.
The Graduate Ambassadors work directly with the Marketing & Outreach Officer and work closely with the entire Marketing & Communications team.
Throughout the programme, you will be involved in a wide variety of activities, including:
Working as part of the Outreach team in the Marketing & Communications Office to encourage other young people (primarily secondary school students from transition year through to leaving certificate in particular) to consider higher education in general and WIT in particular
Presenting WIT courses and campus life to school leavers, fifth and transition year students during school visits as part of a targeted schools campaign
Representing WIT at careers and graduate fairs as required
Offering campus tours to prospective students and showing visitors around WIT, answering their questions on student life
Assisting in the organisation of WIT recruitment events and representing the Institute at the event itself
Assisting in monitoring and updating of an active social media presence to existing and prospective students
Assisting in mainstream marketing activities such as advertising, collateral design and production, website update etc.
Perform such other duties as may be assigned by the Marketing & Outreach Officer and/or other senior management.
This is a diverse and challenging role and we are looking for enthusiatic graduates of the insitute with a range of interpersonal, organisational and administrative skills and high levels of motivation and initiative.
Qualification requirements (essential):
Candidates must have graduated/be graduating with a level 7 or level 8 degree (minimum 2.2) from Waterford Institute of Technology in the last two years i.e. graduated in 2016, 2017 or graduating in 2018.
Essential skill requirements:
Motivated, enthusiastic, reliable and a self-starter capable of generating ideas and seeing those ideas become reality
Excellent communications, listening and interpersonal skills
A flair for presenting
Capable of working as part of a team with a flexible approach to work
A good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook etc)
Full, clean driving licence
Access to a fully insured car
Desirable skill requirements:
Enthusiastic about working with prospective students
Evidence of good project management skills
Good writing skills
Strong interest in and knowledge of social media and websites
This is a temporary wholetime contract and Graduate Ambassadors are paid €23,122 per annum (paid weekly) plus expenses
The positions have staggered start and end dates as follows:
Post 1 commences August 2018 to end July 2019
Post 2 commences February 2019 to end January 2020
Hours of work
Your working hours are 36 hours per week and will typically be between 9.00am and 5.00pm. Due to the nature of the role, you may be asked to work outside those hours from time to time.

Theme: “Why I would be an excellent ambassador for WIT”
Length: Approximately one minute
Production quality: Videos do not need to be high quality, edited pieces and recording the video on your phone is acceptable. Applicants are encouraged to focus on their personality rather than focussing on production quality. Video submissions can be attached and emailed at time of application. Alternatively, you may find it easier to email a download link for the video.

At a minimum candidates must demonstrate in their application that they possess all of the essential elements applicable in the person specification. The Institute will then decide to interview only those applicants who appear from the information available, to be the most suitable, in terms of experience, qualifications and other requirements of the post.
