Student Contribution

The Student Contribution Charge for academic year  is €3,000. The Student Contribution is an annual charge which is set by the Department of Education and all third level students are liable to pay it.  Undergraduate students who qualify for full payment of tuition fees under the 'free fees’ initiative pay €3,000.

Tuition Fees - The Free Fees Initiative

Under the terms of the Free Fees Initiative, the Department of Education and Skills will pay tuition fees to the Institute of Technology on behalf of students registered for the first time on qualifying, full-time, undergraduate programmes. Such programmes must be of a minimum duration of 2 years.

Tuition fees and the Student Contribution Charge are subject to change each year.

All students are required to pay the Student Contribution charge, except students who are approved for the Student Grant. Students who are approved for the Student Grant may have some or all of this charge paid on their behalf by the Student Universal Support Ireland (SUSI). For more information about the Student Grant please see our Grants section or go to

All full time programmes offered by WIT are subject to a fee.  Please see below the different categories of fees for academic year 2016/17.
