Academic Discipline Visit

Staff from our five academic disciplines also offer discipline specific visits to your school as well as on campus activities. These initiatives aim to give your students a real flavour of the courses in that area, and hopefully, allow them to make more informed choices when they are filling out their CAO application.

In this section, we have explained by Academic School and Department what services/engagement each have on offer, along with other events that are held throughout the year.

Here are some examples of how the School of Business engage with schools/students:

  • School Visit: The School of Business would be delighted to give a specific talk on business course options at WIT

  • Try Business Day: Upcoming date is Tuesday, 5 December

  • BSTAI / WIT Junior Cert Business Awards

Here are some examples of how the School of Engineering engage with schools/students:

  • Engineers week 2018 @ WIT: Monday 26 February to Friday 2 March. This week of activities is organised by CALMAST and the School of Engineering in partnership with Engineers Ireland. There is a schedule of presentations, workshops and 'demos' each day for primary and secondary schools.

  • Built Environment School Visit: Emily would be delighted to give a specific talk on built environment course options at WIT

  • Department of Architecture: open invitation for arranged visits to the Granary building where the Architecture and Architectural BIM Technology Studios are located - Please contact Emer Quinn equinn@wit.ie 051 302035 for bookings.

  • Engineering Your Future: Three day programme for TY students run in partnership with Engineers Ireland. The next event is scheduled for mid-May 2018, precise dates to be confirmed.

  • STEM ZOO: This event is run jointly by the School of Engineering, SANOFIJunior Achievement Ireland and the School of Science & Computing. The dates and details have yet to be confirmed, but is expected to run in mid-May 2018 for 5th year students in local secondary schools.

Here are some examples of how the School of Health Sciences engage with schools/students:

Department of Health Sport & Exercise Science

  • Practicals: The department run practicals (sports, team building, exercise etc) from time to time. Contact us if you have a group interested in this area.

  • Try Sports Day: provisional date is February 2018. To be confirmed shortly


Department of Nursing & Health Care

  • School Visit  - specific talk on nursing and health care course options at WIT

  • Try Nursing events: The department normally runs two sessions of Try Nursing ofver the mid-term. This years dates are Tues 31 Oct & Wed 1 Nov AND Thurs 2 & Fri 3 Nov.

  • Department Visits: students can be visit to the nursing building (these are limitied and subject to availability)
