WIT has been hosting a Land Sciences Careers Day for the last number of years, and it has become a key date in the academic calendar. This event allows Agri / Food / Forestry / Horticulture companies from the region and beyond to come to WIT and meet with the final year students in these codes. In 2017, this event happened in the new WIT Arena on the Carriganore campus for the first time, and the event was a huge success. Another first in 2017 was the fact that FBD came on board as the main event sponsor – their support is very much appreciated.
The event included a number of talks from leading players in the agri-food industry. A large portion of the day was dedicated to a networking event which allowed companies to set up stands where students and company representatives discussed career opportunities and forged links which will be invaluable to the students and indeed the companies going forward.
A student committee produced a careers day booklet which can be viewed on the student profiles tab. In this booklet the profiles of the final year students can be viewed, and you can also see the companies who supported the event financially. We really appreciated that support, without which the event could not have been run.
